We have been really getting into the grove of first grade. The students have been getting in the treasure box for great independent work and earning marbles for the "Marble Jar" for working great as a class.

The students have been having fun "Making Words" They move cards around to spell different words and have a contest to see who can make the "Secret Word" of the day. It is a fast paces program and the kids love it.

Writing sentences about fun things the students do has really started the creative ideas to come out. Today we wrote a book about what we do each day of the week. They wrote a sentence, drew and colored a picture. I was very impressed with the hard work everyone put into their books.

Some students are writing books at home, bringing them in and sharing them with the class. We have now started a "Student Auther Book" collection so everyone can read the books others write.

Max The Cat

We worked on writing a class story about Max The Cat. Everyone helped write sentences. We rearranged the sentences to make the story better. Checking for spelling and punctuation was also one of the tasks we did. At the end, we read it together and each student wrote it. Check out our stories and art work hanging in the hall at the end of the week next week.

OUr First Monday

Go For Green!!!!!

We had a fantasticly "Green Day". I am so proud of all of my students for working so hard to listen, follow directions and being a good citizen.

We started our handwriting program. Have your child show you how to pick up a pencil and have a good grip.
Math was fun too. Playing "Bunny Hop" and "Top It' were the highlights.

In social studies each child got to have thier own globe and find the continents.
